I was sort of right, it may not be against the rules, but 3rd party mods are unsupported by Anet.
|
More accurately worded: Texmod does nothing to the original files. Therefore Anet allows the use of the program, but will not provide support related to said program.

And with my luck I'm the one it would break on! lol These outside programs are a problem you never kmow what someone has done to them or added to them.
All we need is a simple fix. They know the information. Please just tell us too. I don't want it to tell me where I haven't scaraped just when a area is done.

TexMod? Not everyone wants to use a program when there is a risk of infecting your computer with Spyware and getting banned from the game. Just not worth it even for a title.
/signed for the OP's idea, that would be a big help. It would also be nice if, in Cartography mode only, the monsters weren't there. It gets annoying after a while being out there only to map and getting nuked.

TexMod is expressly allowed by ANet, but it's one horribly buggy piece of software. Whenever I use TexMod I get weird graphics bugs. It still beats having to squint and guess what little corner of the map I may not have wallhugged sufficiently, but I'd prefer a less buggy version implemented in-game by ANet.
(As an aside to the guy stuck at 97%: it gets exponentially worse the closer to 100% you get. The last 0.1% is will take as much time as the 2.8% from where you are now, which in turn takes as much as the 20% before that.... Speaking as a legendary cartographer: don't believe the people who say they got 100% with large swaths uncharted - except for Cantha you really do need every single little pixel on the map.)

Yes I'm stuck at 99.1 in Tyria and done with Canthia. I guess I'm going to go on with Elona because I don't think I will be able to do Tyria. I guess I just wanted a better way. A way that avoided waisting time reskimming places that are already done because there is no way to tell if an area is done.
Well, gosh I finally finished Tyria. I got .3 points looking for collectables for New Year chefs. I got .1 in Great Northern Wall running back a different route. Thanks to who ever posted that tip. I got .1 killing Evania and warping to her body in the Wilds. I got .3 on the final ring of Fire mission and got the final .1 in the Mineral Springs in the caves with the imps in the far NW. Now Im what looks to be done with Elona but still have 2.3 to go. I guess I have to learn ohw th deal with the Remains of Shahala now.
It sure would be much simpler if when you arrived in an area you got a message that said this area is completely mapped if you had done it.
